Holidays 2021-02-10
Safer boats/ships, teddy bears, flannel, cream cheese brownies, and umbrellas are celebrated today:
An English social reformer, Samuel Plimsoll, was born on this date in 1824. He would go on to push for laws/regulations that improved the safety of commercial shipping.
Apparently gifting a loved one with a teddy bear is a thing, so Teddy Day is one of the Valentine's Day holiday prequels.
Though I usually think of snow (for which I do not use an umbrella) rather than rain (for which I do) this time of year, we celebrate umbrellas today.
On the other hand, this time of year is usually a good one for wearing flannel.
