Holidays 2021-07-19
The childish gesture of sticking out your tongue, being forgiven for transgressions, flight attendant's role in airline safety, hugging your children, cake, rum-based cocktails, rewarding a happy marriage, and the ocean are on our holiday schedule today:
Being in the doghouse is a phrase implying that someone, especially a spouse, is treating you badly because they blame you for something. So getting out of the doghouse is a day when people are supposed to let bygones be bygones.
A flitch is a half of a pig, and it's an old English reward given to a happily married couple.
Marine Day isn't about a branch of the armed services. It's a day to thank the ocean for its bounty.
