Taking a walk with a houseplant, taking a walk with pants, hostility towards Barbie dolls, Korean War veterans, walking on stilts, Scotch whiskey, trans-Atlantic communication, and bagpipes all have ties to today's observances:
I have to wonder if Take Your Pants for a Walk Day is a corruption of Take Your Houseplants for a Walk Day.

In Finland the last person to wake up on National Sleepy Head Day is believed to be heading to a year of being lazy and non-productive.

On the anniversary of the 1953 Korean War Armistice, we honor the veterans of that war.

On this date in 1866 the first sustained trans-Atlantic telegraph cable was functional, greatly improving communication between Europe and North America.

I probably won't be able to find someone playing bagpipes while on stilts; let's just go with the bagpipes.

As I've (more or less) successfully managed yet another trip around the sun, so lets discuss what happened. You may be surprised to learn that these aren't the telephone numbers associated with our individual telephones, but instead represent the number of ways that n number of telephones can be connected to each other for 2-way calls. The Festival of Wepet Renpet was a matter of life and death in ancient Egypt - it was held each year when the Nile River flooded, irrigating the fields that the Egyptians depended on for much of their food. It was also considered the Egyptian New Year. Since it depended on a flood, the date is an approximation. Of course the ancient Egyptians understood that Wepet Renpet had nothing to do with rain in the Ethiopian highlands; they understood that the deities Khnum and Neith were satisfied with their offerings.
